About:

I’m Marian Pop, a graphic designer based in Transylvania, Romania. I have a huge amount of
energy and humor. I work as freelancer for a while and I enjoy the freedom that this lifestyle is given to me.
I’m also a student and I study the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Babes Bolyai University back in Transylvania.

Your Hobbies:

I love many form of arts and in my free time I play guitar, I listen to music, take photographies, draw a lot and many many other stuff.
I play chess and read good books (and I must say that I’m addicted to anything that’s vintage).

Your Achievements:

Many great friendships with great designers all around the world.

About your Experience with design:

Well, I’m glad that this spot actually exists in this interview because there are many things that I want to talk about.
I started back in the summer of 2007 by creating websites (design and coding). Then was the very first time when I met Adobe Photoshop and that was the beginning.
Since May of this year (2011), I was more into web development. I joined to a big crowd source community in May and I met there the guy who will bring me to the next level. He made the designer who I am now.
He is an old friend of 92pixels. Adrian Nita has always seen more that I was seeing in me. I learned valuable lessons from him. For example, how to active my own style and focus my energy on bringing the idea in front of the visual effects.
In conclusion, I’m in the field from few years and more involved from half year now.

3. Drawing the concepts in Adobe Illustrator
4. Based on my client feedback I focus on one partiular concept and stick with it until the client is satisfied

How would you describe your style?

Minimalistic / Retro, focusing on creativity.

How did you get your first job in design and what exactly was it?

It was back in 2007 and I had to design a website for a plant-based pharmaceutical local business.

What plans do you have for the future?

I have some ongoing projects with a friend of mine but unfortunately I can’t talk more about this particular project.
My main goal is to achieve better I could a retro style in my designs.

Your expert areas:

Logo and UI/UX design.

Your tools of work:

I always felt great working with Adobe products. I use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop as software, a pencil and a paper and a drawing tablet.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration for graphic design?

Well, many things are a source of inspiration for me. For example the environment is my second engine. I would like to mention in this section other professionals who are rolle models for me.
Here they are:
- Adrian Nita (Logo Design)
- Sean Farrell (Logo Design)
- Costica Emi (Logo Design)
- Emir Ayouni (Logo Design)
- Richard Tabor (User Interface Design)
So, they are the big five who influence my work.

What advice would you give to other designers?

Do never forget that your mood, personality and feelings will be reflected in your work. If something doesn’t go in the direction you want, just leave it. Go outside, take a walk and stay creative.
