About you and your experience with design?

29 year old female graphic designer from Zagreb, Croatia (Europe). After my MA in Graphic Design and Visual Communications at School of Design, Faculy of Architecture, University in Zagreb I started my professional career and worked in several design studios as well as advertising agencies, as a designer and later as an art director (and occasional copywriter).
I work as a freelancer for the last year and a half, since my last day-job. I live with my boyfriend who is an audio engineer and we share a studio. I have 2 cats and am a passionate Alfa Romeo fan and Mac addict. :)
Your Achievements: Definitely, my greatest achievement is to be able to make a living from my work. Even as a freelancer, which is the hardest way here where I live. I made lots of business contacts, and even friends, while designing.

Do you have a particular process you go through for each design?

Carefully read the brief or talk with the client until every single detail is well known. After that, the imagination does all the “hard work”. If I participate in a contest, I try very hard NOT to look at what other designers did – as sometimes inspiration can come even unwillingly from my subconsciousness.

How would you describe your style?

My personal style has phases – sometimes I’m obsessed with typographical solutions, and other times I go wild with outer glow. But basically – simple, strong, bold and minimalistic would be my conscious choice.

How did you get your first job in design and what exactly was it?

During the studies a colleague and me did a complete makeover of a security company here in Croatia. The fee was more than fair, but the best thing was the feeling when we first saw all those printed materials. It was like – wow, we actually made this! :)

What plans do you have for the future?

Still searching for the perfect company – and in the meantime brushing up my skills.

Your expert areas?

Logo design, Corporate Identity, Print Materials

Your tools of work?

Mac – Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign… and first of all, the ability of abstract imagination.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration for graphic design?

Everyday world. As I see all the awful graphics surrounding me, I constantly try to figure out the better ways. And also the great visuals – they keep pushing me over my limits.

What advice would you give to other designers?

Work, work and work. Respect what other people do – make a lousy design rather than a perfect rip-off.
And don’t forget to take some time off (not minutes, rather days) – since we can all get an “overflow”.

What do you think about 92pixels.com?

Great site, with all the different categories – downloads, showcases
